Children’s Books: Let’s Play Football app & book for Super Bowl Season

Monday, January 27th, 2014

Let's Play Football book for childrenClueless about the sport that’s about to overtake your house this Super Bowl Sunday? We here at SouthernMamas.com have been watching football for longer than we care to admit without really understand all the intricacies and rules of the pigskin pastime.  Which is why we’re thrilled about the new hardcover book for kids “Let’s Play Football” by Jon Richter.

Written by a real-world father and son team, the book explains football in a fun way & has gorgeous illustrations. In the story, the “Lions vs. the Bears” (real lions, real bears) take readers from training camp through the AFL (Animal Football League) Championship game. Perfect for ages 2-7 years old.

There’s even a glossary at the back to help kids remember football terminology and a FREE Let’s Play Football book-app available in the iTunes app store. The app is narrated by ESPN Monday Night Football Analyst Ron Jaworski with help from Philadelphia Eagles Merrill Reese.

Thanks to this lively read, while watching the Seattle Seahawks vs. Denver Broncos this Sunday, your kids (and you) will have much more of clue.

Family Weekend Activity: Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® Presents Super Circus Heroes, Savannah

Wednesday, January 22nd, 2014

Ringling Bros circus in Savannah 2014

We had a blast at opening night Wednesday of The Greatest Show On Earth®.

Be sure to add the circus to your family fun list for this weekend. Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Presents Super Circus Heroes  will be at the Savannah Civic Center January 22-26 2014.

While the kids loved every bit of the Circus Super Heroes, Asian elephants, horses, camels & acrobats, the four little kid volunteers from the audience definitely stole the show with their antics with the clowns. If you’ve got floor seats, be sure your kids are ready to volunteer to participate. And no, they will not be made to do any acrobatics.

Don’t forget to arrive early for the interactive All Access Pre-show, which takes place on the arena floor one hour before the show and is FREE TO ALL TICKET HOLDERS. This is a fun way to get close to the performers. The actual circus is about 2 hours with an intermission.

For more information, visit www.Ringling.com . All seats are reserved, and tickets are available at Etix by phone at 800-351-7469 and the Savannah Civic Center Box Office. For group rates and information, call toll free: (770) 578-5125 or visit groupticketsplus.com

Performance Schedule:
Thursday, January 23 7pm
Friday, January 24 10:30am & 7pm
Saturday, January 25 11am, 3pm, & 7pm
Sunday, January 26 1pm & 5pm
